This project is a video/installation piece re: the Pledge of Allegiance. Chambers recites the pledge, manipulates the audio in Audacity, and then combines it with the colors, red/white/blue to create a visual/auditory mantra. The word, mantra means a sacred utterance, numinous sound, or a syllable, word, phonemes, or group of words believed by some to have psychological power.

The Pledge of Allegiance:

"I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."

The Pledge of Allegiance of the United States is an expression of allegiance to the Flag of the United States and the republic of the United States of America, originally composed by Rear Admiral George Balch in 1887, later revised by Francis Bellamy in 1892 and formally adopted by Congress as the pledge in 1942. The official name of The Pledge of Allegiance was adopted in 1945. The last change in language came on Flag Day 1954 when the words "under God" were added. (Wikipedia)
